Community Events

CGOA sponsors several community events including exhibitions, meet-ups, contests, annual member meetings and a Chapter Challenge.

Member Exhibition

The member exhibition is a celebration of member makes in different categories over the last year and often centered around a theme. The makes do not need to be original designs; they can be from an existing pattern you own or have modified.  While the member exhibition generally occurred once a year. It will now occur year round in the CGOA community. Members can post their best makes all year long. Just join the Member Exhibition group.

Design Contest

The design contest is a competition of member original designs in different categories. The designs must be your own and show the completed object. Prizes are awarded. The design contest may or may not occur in any given year. CGOA members can see the most recent design winners.

Meet-Ups

Meet-ups are small gatherings for 1-2 hours often occurring on a monthly basis. It’s a time to enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow members. We are looking for volunteers to lead this in the CGOA Community.

Annual Meeting

The annual member meeting is the guild’s mandated meeting that informs its membership of its financial status, masters graduates, upcoming goals for the year and other pertinent guild work/projects. It also marks the transition in board membership. This meeting occurs once a year generally in July or August. Meeting information is announced on the News Feed on the CGOA Homepage and in email newsletters.

Chapter Challenge

The Chapter Challenge is a once a year (mid-March to mid-June) charity creation event. Our chapters make a CGOA provided pattern and the objects are donated to a charity. Learn more about the current Chapter Challenge. See the most recent winners.

The CGOA Calendar shows dues dates and time periods for these events.
